The design rationale for Tri-Portal is based on a collective experience
of more than 20 years in the exploitation of online technologies.
With prior experience across public and private sectors at both
technical and strategic level Comsiant has a deep understanding
of what works and what doesn't, what technical and political barriers
can arise and perhaps most significantly how to deliver on a real
rather than a perceived need.
Comsiant's philosophy on information management and that which
forms the foundation for Tri-Portal is simply stated :
"Successful information management means that all staff have
appropriate, timely and efficient access to all information necessary
to fulfil their job role"
Access
Implicit in this philosophy is that if all staff can create, update
and access information as and when their job function requires,
then the integrity and accuracy of corporate data is greatly improved.
Two immediate and consequent benefits are improved productivity
and better-informed decision making.
Efficiency
Having access to information is one thing but having efficient access
is a lot better. Efficiency in information management is one area
where online solutions can make immediate affect. Moving paper 'online'
means near instant access, reduced dissemination costs and time,
reduced storage costs and possibilities for powerful search and
recovery.
We can also consider efficiency in terms of the tools that we use
to undertake information management. The IT world is full of systems

Ensuring all staff have appropriate access to relevant information
at the right time is a vital goal. Correct business decisions at
all levels are based on having the right information to hand. Online

base that meets this need. Furthermore, with the growth in mobile
technologies, that can mean anywhere and anytime. Tri-Portal and
the Tri-Portal Services have been devised to ensure that anywhere,

failover, back up and recovery strategies.
So as Tri-Portal has and continues to evolve, all development is
